Introduction

The Trade Approved Dini Argeo Weicomp is a precision-engineered, legal-for-trade weighing instrument built for commercial accountability. Designed for businesses that require verified accuracy for transactions by weight, this ECEM certified bench scale provides a robust solution for routine production, warehouse dispatch, and quality control. Legal-for-Trade Compliance (ECEM / M-Class)

This version of the Weicomp bench scale is fully ECEM Approved (EC Type Approved for Mass Receptor).

  • Regulatory Standard: Supplied as a Class III M-Approved instrument, meeting the stringent accuracy standards required by UK and EU regulatory authorities.

  • Note on Markings: While often referred to in the industry as “ECEM” or “EC Type Approved,” these scales are visually identified by the Green M sticker, signifying they are legally verified for commercial use.

  • Commercial Verification: Legally compliant for use in any transaction where the price of goods is determined by weight, protecting both the buyer and seller.

  • Audit-Proof Accuracy: Ensures your business remains compliant during inspections and maintains professional consumer trust.

As experts in industrial weighing, we have set this product up for trade approval so you don’t have to! Easy accessible and legal weighing for industrial applications.

Product Overview

Built for the rigors of everyday commerce, the Weicomp Trade Approved range features a durable painted steel chassis topped with a high-grade AISI 304 stainless steel platform. Unlike standard internal-use scales, these models are specifically calibrated and sealed to maintain legal-for-trade tolerances in environments such as manufacturing hubs, packing stations, and goods-out departments.

While the platform is engineered for stability in dry industrial settings, the choice of indicator allows you to move from straightforward commercial weighing to advanced data handling and system integration.

Indicator Comparison: Lite vs Pro

Both models share the same industrial platform but offer different levels of commercial functionality:

Feature Lite Approved Indicator Pro Approved Indicator
Indicator Housing High-Grade ABS AISI 304 Stainless Steel (IP69k)
Trade Use Routine Commercial Weighing Advanced Trade Control
Display 25mm Backlit LCD Interactive RGB (Color-Coded)
Functionality Weighing & Totalisation Counting, Dosing, Check-Control
Connectivity RS232 Serial RS232, RS485, USB-C

Pro Indicator: High-Intensity Trade Performance

The Pro version transforms the Weicomp into an advanced data terminal for demanding commercial workflows:

  • Interactive RGB Display: Provides instant “visual weighing” feedback—the screen changes colour (Yellow/Green/Red) to indicate weight targets, significantly speeding up trade packing tasks.

  • Advanced Logic: Pre-loaded with software for piece counting, manual dosing, and percentage weighing.

  • Integration Ready: Standard USB-C and RS485 ports allow for seamless connection to modern ERP or factory management systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ECEM stand for?

ECEM stands for EC Type Approval for a Mass Receptor. It is the certification that allows a scale to be used legally for trade. In practice, you will see a “Green M” sticker on the scale signifying this approval.

Is a Trade Approved scale required for my business?

If you use the weight reading to determine a price, a fine, or a fee, UK/EU law requires a Trade Approved (M-Class/ECEM) scale. This model fulfils that legal requirement.

Can I use this in wet environments?

This base model is intended for dry industrial settings. For washdown areas or high-moisture trade applications, the Weicomp SS (Stainless Steel) model is the appropriate choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

A calibration certificate proves the accuracy of your weighing equipment. It is very likely that if accuracy matters in your workplace, certification will be required by your industry regulators. They are straightforward to get hold of though. Just ask our team.

If you are trading or transacting anything by weight, you will probably need to demonstrate your weighing equipment is verified for trade use. This gives your customers confidence in your business and will make sure buying and selling run smoothly. We can help get you with relevant approvals for your equipment.

The answer will vary depending on how your equipment is used. As a minimum, we typically recommend once a year but our team can provide advice based on your individual circumstances.

The International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) has established standards for the classification of calibration test weights. Varying from E0 & E1, which are the most accurate to M2 which are commonly used for calibrating platform scales, floor scales and other industrial weighing instruments.

As a rough guide we have listed desired accuracy against class below.

+/- 0.1% – UNclassed Proof Load Test Weights
+/- 0.05% – M3 (Check/calibrate coarse scales)
+/- 0.005% – M1 (Check/calibrate standard scales)
+/- 0.0015% – F2 (Check/calibrate portable balances)
+/- 0.0005% – F1 (Check/calibrate precision balances)
+/- 0.00015% – E2 (Check/calibrate analytical balances)

The choice of weight class depends on the intended use and the level of accuracy required for a particular application. If you’re unsure, talk to our team who can advise you on the right class for your equipment.

If you’re sending a scale back to us for recalibration, it is ideal to use the original packaging. If this is not available choose a sturdy well-padded box to avoid shocks. Where possible, protect the load sensor by removing the weighing pan and any under-pan support and pack these separately in the box. You may be able to use the equipment’s locking pins or screws too.

Do ensure all the paperwork, including your contact details, is included to ensure we can return it once calibration is complete.
