Description

The Marsden M-800 is a bariatric and geriatric scale with curved handrails. 300kg capacity, 50g/100g accuracy, and BMI calculation. Class III Approved.

The Marsden M-800 is a premium, heavy-duty medical scale specifically engineered for patients who require maximum support and stability during the weighing process. Combining an extra-wide, low-profile platform with robust, curved handrails, the M-800 is the ideal choice for bariatric wards, geriatric departments, and weight management clinics.

As a Class III Approved device, it meets the rigorous legal standards for medical monitoring and diagnosis, providing clinical-grade accuracy for patients up to 300kg.

Unrivalled Patient Support & Safety

The M-800 is designed to alleviate the anxiety often felt by unsteady patients when stepping onto a scale:

  • Curved Stability Rails: The integrated handrails are built to withstand significant pressure, providing a secure grip for geriatric patients or those with mobility impairments.

  • Ultra-Low Profile Platform: At just 50mm high, the platform minimizes the “step-up” height, making it safely accessible for elderly patients who may struggle with higher floor scales.

  • Large Weighing Area: The spacious 700mm x 600mm base allows bariatric patients to find a comfortable, natural standing position without feeling restricted.

Clinical Accuracy & Diagnostic Features

Equipped with the versatile DP-3810 indicator, the M-800 turns weight measurement into a comprehensive diagnostic tool:

  • High-Precision Graduations: The scale offers superior accuracy with 50g increments for patients under 150kg, and 100g increments thereafter. This fine resolution is critical for tracking small weight changes in clinical treatment plans.

  • Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculation: A full numeric keypad allows clinicians to enter patient height and calculate BMI instantly, which is displayed on the clear LCD screen.

  • Hold & Tare Functions: The “Hold” feature ensures an accurate weight is captured even if the patient is moving while holding the rails. The “Tare” and “Preset Tare” functions allow staff to deduct the weight of clothing or medical accessories easily.

Built for the Modern Hospital Environment

The M-800 is designed for longevity and ease of use within busy healthcare facilities:

  • Ward Mobility: Despite its heavy-duty construction, the scale features two integrated wheels and a lightweight frame (33kg), allowing it to be tilted and moved between treatment rooms by a single member of staff.

  • Swivel Indicator: The waist-height indicator swivels to provide the clinician with the optimum viewing angle, reducing glare and improving readability.

  • Extended Battery Life: Powered by a rechargeable battery pack, the M-800 provides over 55 hours of continuous use. A mains adaptor is included for stationary operation.

  • EMR Readiness: Optional Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB connectivity allows for the wireless transfer of weight and BMI data directly to patient electronic records, supporting a paperless workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

A calibration certificate proves the accuracy of your weighing equipment. It is very likely that if accuracy matters in your workplace, certification will be required by your industry regulators. They are straightforward to get hold of though. Just ask our team.

If you are trading or transacting anything by weight, you will probably need to demonstrate your weighing equipment is verified for trade use. This gives your customers confidence in your business and will make sure buying and selling run smoothly. We can help get you with relevant approvals for your equipment.

The answer will vary depending on how your equipment is used. As a minimum, we typically recommend once a year but our team can provide advice based on your individual circumstances.

The International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) has established standards for the classification of calibration test weights. Varying from E0 & E1, which are the most accurate to M2 which are commonly used for calibrating platform scales, floor scales and other industrial weighing instruments.

As a rough guide we have listed desired accuracy against class below.

+/- 0.1% – UNclassed Proof Load Test Weights
+/- 0.05% – M3 (Check/calibrate coarse scales)
+/- 0.005% – M1 (Check/calibrate standard scales)
+/- 0.0015% – F2 (Check/calibrate portable balances)
+/- 0.0005% – F1 (Check/calibrate precision balances)
+/- 0.00015% – E2 (Check/calibrate analytical balances)

The choice of weight class depends on the intended use and the level of accuracy required for a particular application. If you’re unsure, talk to our team who can advise you on the right class for your equipment.

If you’re sending a scale back to us for recalibration, it is ideal to use the original packaging. If this is not available choose a sturdy well-padded box to avoid shocks. Where possible, protect the load sensor by removing the weighing pan and any under-pan support and pack these separately in the box. You may be able to use the equipment’s locking pins or screws too.

Do ensure all the paperwork, including your contact details, is included to ensure we can return it once calibration is complete.
