Description

Best portable wheelchair scale for community nurses; Marsden M-610 vs platform scales; medical-grade weigh beams for wheelchairs.

The Marsden M-610 is the definitive solution for flexible, mobile patient weighing. Designed for healthcare settings where space is at a premium or multi-site travel is required, these Portable Wheelchair Weigh Beams allow clinicians to weigh patients safely in the comfort of their own wheelchair, eliminating the need for stressful and time-consuming manual transfers.

Engineered for durability and ease of transport, the M-610 is a high-capacity, Class III Approved choice for community nursing teams, multi-site health centre’s, and busy hospital wards.

The Ultimate Portable Weighing Solution

The M-610 is designed for professionals who need to bring the scale directly to the patient. Each beam is equipped with integrated handles and wheels, making the system remarkably easy to move and store when not in use.

  • Rapid Deployment: The system can be set up in under two minutes. Simply place the beams on a flat surface, connect the indicator, and the scale is ready for use.

  • Lightweight Efficiency: Each beam weighs just 8.5kg. When combined with optional carry cases and bags, the entire system can be transported between clinics or home visits in a standard vehicle.

  • Durable Construction: Built to withstand heavy daily use, the beams feature a low-profile design with shallow incline ramps. This ensures that almost any manual or electric wheelchair can be pushed onto the scale with minimal effort.

Clinical Precision & Advanced Features

Despite its portable nature, the M-610 delivers the same high-tier accuracy as a permanent floor scale:

  • High Capacity & Precision: A robust 300kg capacity with 100g graduations makes this system suitable for a wide range of patients, including bariatric users.

  • Comprehensive BMI Calculation: The indicator features a full numeric keypad, allowing height data to be entered quickly for instant Body Mass Index (BMI) results.

  • Hold & Tare Functions: Use the Pre-set Tare function to automatically deduct the weight of the wheelchair, providing a net patient weight instantly. The Hold function stabilizes the reading even if the patient is restless, ensuring data integrity.

Modern Data Integration & Power

The M-610 is built for the modern healthcare environment, offering several ways to manage patient data and maintain power in the field:

  • Digital Connectivity: Includes a standard data port for printers, with optional Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB upgrades available for seamless integration into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

  • Reliable Power: Powered by a long-life internal rechargeable battery or via the mains. The system is designed to provide weeks of mobile use on a single charge.

  • Battery Preservation: An auto power-off feature kicks in after 3 minutes of inactivity to ensure the scale is always ready for the next patient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

A calibration certificate proves the accuracy of your weighing equipment. It is very likely that if accuracy matters in your workplace, certification will be required by your industry regulators. They are straightforward to get hold of though. Just ask our team.

If you are trading or transacting anything by weight, you will probably need to demonstrate your weighing equipment is verified for trade use. This gives your customers confidence in your business and will make sure buying and selling run smoothly. We can help get you with relevant approvals for your equipment.

The answer will vary depending on how your equipment is used. As a minimum, we typically recommend once a year but our team can provide advice based on your individual circumstances.

The International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) has established standards for the classification of calibration test weights. Varying from E0 & E1, which are the most accurate to M2 which are commonly used for calibrating platform scales, floor scales and other industrial weighing instruments.

As a rough guide we have listed desired accuracy against class below.

+/- 0.1% – UNclassed Proof Load Test Weights
+/- 0.05% – M3 (Check/calibrate coarse scales)
+/- 0.005% – M1 (Check/calibrate standard scales)
+/- 0.0015% – F2 (Check/calibrate portable balances)
+/- 0.0005% – F1 (Check/calibrate precision balances)
+/- 0.00015% – E2 (Check/calibrate analytical balances)

The choice of weight class depends on the intended use and the level of accuracy required for a particular application. If you’re unsure, talk to our team who can advise you on the right class for your equipment.

If you’re sending a scale back to us for recalibration, it is ideal to use the original packaging. If this is not available choose a sturdy well-padded box to avoid shocks. Where possible, protect the load sensor by removing the weighing pan and any under-pan support and pack these separately in the box. You may be able to use the equipment’s locking pins or screws too.

Do ensure all the paperwork, including your contact details, is included to ensure we can return it once calibration is complete.
