Description

The Marsden M-650 is a heavy-duty, one-piece wheelchair scale with 300kg capacity. Features dual-ramp access, BMI calculation, and 180-hour battery life.

The Marsden M-650 is a high-capacity, heavy-duty medical scale designed specifically for the frequent weighing of patients in wheelchairs. Built with a solid, one-piece platform and integrated shallow ramps, the M-650 provides an exceptionally stable and secure weighing area. It is the ideal solution for hospital renal units, rehabilitation centre’s, and busy care homes where durability and ease of access are paramount.

Unlike folding models, the M-650 prioritizes a rigid, ultra-low-profile base that can accommodate almost any manual or powered wheelchair with ease.

Heavy-Duty Stability for Clinical Safety

The M-650 is engineered to handle the constant throughput of a professional medical facility. Its design focuses on removing the barriers to weighing patients with limited mobility:

  • Large One-Piece Platform: The 1150mm x 800mm base provides a generous weighing area (950mm x 740mm), ensuring even larger motorized wheelchairs fit comfortably and securely.

  • Shallow Incline Ramps: Integrated into the platform on both sides, the gentle ramps allow for effortless “roll-on, roll-off” access, minimizing the effort required by staff and the stress on the patient.

  • Exceptional Portability: Despite its robust build, the scale remains highly portable. Using the integrated side handle, the unit can be lifted onto its side and moved easily on built-in wheels for storage when not in use.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Features

The M-650 is a fully certified Class III Approved medical device, providing the accuracy required for the practice of medicine and critical treatment monitoring.

  • High Capacity & Precision: A 300kg capacity with 100g accuracy ensures reliable data for a broad patient demographic, including bariatric patients.

  • Full Numeric Indicator: The premium indicator features a full keypad, allowing for rapid data entry. It simultaneously displays Weight, Height, and BMI on three clear screens.

  • Hold & Tare Functions: The “Hold of Weight” feature captures an accurate reading for restless patients, while the Tare and Preset Tare functions allow staff to instantly deduct the weight of the wheelchair.

Flexible Power & Digital Readiness

To support the varied needs of modern healthcare facilities, the M-650 offers versatile power and data options:

  • Market-Leading Battery Life: Powered by either 6x AA batteries or an internal rechargeable battery pack, the scale provides up to 180 hours of use (approximately 9,000 weigh-ins) or 55 hours of continuous runtime.

  • Seamless Connectivity: Includes a standard data output port for printers. For digital record keeping, optional Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or USB connectivity is available to transmit data directly to patient EMR systems.

  • Professional Support: Every M-650 is backed by Marsden’s industry-leading 8-year warranty, ensuring long-term reliability and low cost of ownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

A calibration certificate proves the accuracy of your weighing equipment. It is very likely that if accuracy matters in your workplace, certification will be required by your industry regulators. They are straightforward to get hold of though. Just ask our team.

If you are trading or transacting anything by weight, you will probably need to demonstrate your weighing equipment is verified for trade use. This gives your customers confidence in your business and will make sure buying and selling run smoothly. We can help get you with relevant approvals for your equipment.

The answer will vary depending on how your equipment is used. As a minimum, we typically recommend once a year but our team can provide advice based on your individual circumstances.

The International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) has established standards for the classification of calibration test weights. Varying from E0 & E1, which are the most accurate to M2 which are commonly used for calibrating platform scales, floor scales and other industrial weighing instruments.

As a rough guide we have listed desired accuracy against class below.

+/- 0.1% – UNclassed Proof Load Test Weights
+/- 0.05% – M3 (Check/calibrate coarse scales)
+/- 0.005% – M1 (Check/calibrate standard scales)
+/- 0.0015% – F2 (Check/calibrate portable balances)
+/- 0.0005% – F1 (Check/calibrate precision balances)
+/- 0.00015% – E2 (Check/calibrate analytical balances)

The choice of weight class depends on the intended use and the level of accuracy required for a particular application. If you’re unsure, talk to our team who can advise you on the right class for your equipment.

If you’re sending a scale back to us for recalibration, it is ideal to use the original packaging. If this is not available choose a sturdy well-padded box to avoid shocks. Where possible, protect the load sensor by removing the weighing pan and any under-pan support and pack these separately in the box. You may be able to use the equipment’s locking pins or screws too.

Do ensure all the paperwork, including your contact details, is included to ensure we can return it once calibration is complete.
