Description

The Marsden MA801 is the most advanced Class III Professional Body Composition Analyser. Ideal for medical research, NHS clinics, and elite sports.

The Marsden MA801 is a flagship diagnostic workstation, representing the highest tier of the Marsden and Charder engineering partnership. Designed for medical research, elite sports performance, and advanced clinical monitoring, the MA801 transcends standard weighing to provide a high-definition cellular map of human health.

Utilising 5-frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), it offers the highest level of precision available in a standing scale. It is the preferred choice for specialist NHS departments, university research labs, and professional athletic associations requiring research-grade data. Featuring 5-frequency BIA, 8-point segmental analysis, and a 10.1″ touchscreen. 8-year warranty included.

The Professional Standard in Body Analysis

While standard analysers use one or three frequencies, the MA801 employs five distinct frequencies ranging from 5kHz to 250kHz. This multi-frequency approach allows the device to bypass the “noise” of skin resistance and measure with extreme accuracy the fluid balance both inside and outside the cells.

Key Performance Features:

  • Medical Research Grade: Features BIVA (Bioelectrical Impedance Vector Analysis) and Phase Angle—vital markers for nutritional status, cellular integrity, and recovery readiness.

  • Segmental Precision: The 8-point tactile electrode system isolates muscle and fat data for each individual limb and the trunk, allowing clinicians to spot asymmetries or track rehabilitation progress.

  • 10.1″ HD Colour Touchscreen: A massive, high-definition interface provides an intuitive user experience, showing detailed visual graphs of history and progress directly on the device.

  • Massive Connectivity: Equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3x USB ports for seamless data transfer to patient management systems or the Charder Insight software.

  • High-Volume Data Capacity: Stores up to 100,000 measurements internally, making it ideal for high-traffic environments like stadiums or large medical wards.

40+ Advanced Health Metrics

The MA801 provides the most comprehensive result sheet in the industry, including:

  • Core Composition: Weight, BMI, Body Fat %, Visceral Fat Area (sq cm), and Subcutaneous Fat.

  • Fluid & Oedema Management: Intracellular Water (ICW), Extracellular Water (ECW), Total Body Water (TBW), and the Oedema Index (ECW/TBW ratio) for cardiac and renal monitoring.

  • Muscle & Bone Health: Skeletal Muscle Mass (SMM), Protein Mass, Mineral Mass, and a Muscle Quality Score (grip strength estimation).

  • Metabolic Data: Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), Total Energy Expenditure (TEE), and Metabolic Age.

  • Research Parameters: Fat-Free Mass Index (FFMI), Skeletal Muscle Index (SMI), and full Segmental Lean/Fat Mass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

A calibration certificate proves the accuracy of your weighing equipment. It is very likely that if accuracy matters in your workplace, certification will be required by your industry regulators. They are straightforward to get hold of though. Just ask our team.

If you are trading or transacting anything by weight, you will probably need to demonstrate your weighing equipment is verified for trade use. This gives your customers confidence in your business and will make sure buying and selling run smoothly. We can help get you with relevant approvals for your equipment.

The answer will vary depending on how your equipment is used. As a minimum, we typically recommend once a year but our team can provide advice based on your individual circumstances.

The International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) has established standards for the classification of calibration test weights. Varying from E0 & E1, which are the most accurate to M2 which are commonly used for calibrating platform scales, floor scales and other industrial weighing instruments.

As a rough guide we have listed desired accuracy against class below.

+/- 0.1% – UNclassed Proof Load Test Weights
+/- 0.05% – M3 (Check/calibrate coarse scales)
+/- 0.005% – M1 (Check/calibrate standard scales)
+/- 0.0015% – F2 (Check/calibrate portable balances)
+/- 0.0005% – F1 (Check/calibrate precision balances)
+/- 0.00015% – E2 (Check/calibrate analytical balances)

The choice of weight class depends on the intended use and the level of accuracy required for a particular application. If you’re unsure, talk to our team who can advise you on the right class for your equipment.

If you’re sending a scale back to us for recalibration, it is ideal to use the original packaging. If this is not available choose a sturdy well-padded box to avoid shocks. Where possible, protect the load sensor by removing the weighing pan and any under-pan support and pack these separately in the box. You may be able to use the equipment’s locking pins or screws too.

Do ensure all the paperwork, including your contact details, is included to ensure we can return it once calibration is complete.
